Bouldering is an excellent activity for young people; it's fun, sociable and develops skills such as balance and co-ordination, as well as problem solving. If your child is new to climbing, then starting off with one of our kids classes is a good idea.

We deliver a number of coached sessions for young climbers, using the NIBAS scheme. NIBAS (The National Indoor Bouldering Award Scheme) is a programme of structured progression which provides boulderers with a way to develop their skills, from absolute first timers (level one) through to to advanced climbing skills (level five). We currently deliver levels 1, 2 and 3.  You can read more about the NIBAS scheme here.

These are weekly climbing classes for young climbers aged 7+ who want to climb regularly and improve their climbing skills. We deliver NIBAS (National Indoor Bouldering Award Scheme) through these sessions. This provides a structured approach for developing movement skills, motivation and improvement as well as a personal record of achievement.

Climbers can join the sessions for 4 or 8 weeks at a time, completing a NIBAS level can take 4 - 12 weeks, depending on age and experience. The classes cost €40 for 4 weeks, €70 for 8 or €14 for a one off try-it class. NIBAS log-book costs €7. Booking is essential!

All our regular NIBAS classes are currently fully booked, please check our events section for details of additional classes during school holidays * mid term breaks.

If you are aged between 14 and 18 you might like to come along to a 'junior induction session'. Your instructor will go through everything you need to know to use the centre safely and give you some good basic climbing technique. On completion of an induction it may be possible to register to use the centre unsupervised. You need to be accompanied by a parent/ guardian for this session.

On Wednesday evenings from 6-8 pm, we have a free coaching session for Winders’ Climbing Club. Winders' Club provides an opportunity for young climbers to prepare for competitions, improve their technique, learn about training for climbing and have lots of fun. The club is affiliated to Mountaineering Ireland. If you're a young climber and are serious about improving your climbing, please speak to Terry or Angela to find out more.
